At Basics2Buckets Hoops & PHITness, our philosophy is rooted in the commitment to mold complete athletes. Everyone has the potential to be their best selves, and we are devoted to helping our clients achieve their goals. We believe that a well-rounded athlete excels not only in technical skills but also in mental resilience, teamwork, and character. No matter where they are in their journey, (just starting or have been an athlete for years), our passion and programs are centered around nurturing individuals who not only shine on the floor, but carry the values of commitment, consistency, sportsmanship, health, and wellness into all aspects of their lives.
Additionally, we make it a priority to give back to the youth in our community. And in doing so, we invest a lot of time training and developing young athletes with a focus on basketball, strength and conditioning, and most importantly, life lessons.
Our ISSA Certified Physical Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, Kelvin Richardson (aka K Rich), is passionate about health and wellness and basketball. His goal is to prioritize the mastery of fundamentals to assist our clients in creating a strong foundation in order to achieve their goals.

BIO:
Once referred to as the Michael Jordan of Division III college basketball, Kelvin Richardson started out a playground legend from Alcoa, TN. Kelvin was a standout player at Alcoa High School as a 6'3 Tornado forward guard, with an amazing 36" vertical leap. During high school he was named to several tournament teams and MVPs, Team MVP, District MVP, All Region 1st Team, All State First Team, and Blount County Player of the Year. Not to mention, Kelvin literally started playing organized basketball his Junior year of high school.
After high school, Kelvin continued his legendary performance on the courts of Memphis State University (1st year red shirt) and then a transfer to Maryville College. With 3 years of eligibility left after sitting out an entire year, Kelvin led the Maryville College fighting Scots to 3 consecutive NCAA tournaments during 1990-1993, first ever NCAA bid in school history. Ending his college basketball career in 1993, Kelvin led the Scots in 8 offensive categories, averaged 20.7 points a game, was named to several All-tournament teams, team MVP, a 1993 Kenyon Lacy Award winner, NCAA All-South First Teamer, and NCAA All American, and memorably led in the category of the most thunderous dunks in Maryville College history.
After Kelvin's college basketball career, he took his skills overseas and played professionally 4 seasons in Japan, Belgium, and the Dominican Republic. Kelvin was inducted into the Maryville College and Blount County Halls of Fame.
